Pontoon is a type of card game variation of blackjack. It is eight deck card games. The house edge in this game is very low and the strategy is very simple and easy to learn. That is why is popular in players. But fluctuation in this game is higher than traditional blackjack.

The game dealt with eight standard 52-card decks. Both player and dealer gets two cards, but dealer does not have any up- card. The cards are valued the same as in traditional blackjack and hands are totaled the same way. Ace is worth 1 or 11 at the holder’s choice. King, queen, jacks and ten are worth ten and remaining cards are worth their value. Each player has to make a hand whose total is as near as possible to 21 without going above 21.

One player is designated as banker. A banker is decided by the card whoever cuts the highest. Each player bets on having a better hand than the banker. The best hand of all is a pontoon which is 21 points in two cards. Second best are five card tricks, which is a hand of five cards totaling 21 or less. Third highest is the hand with three or four cards worth 21 points, hands with more than 21 points are bust and are worthless. If the banker and a player have equal cards then the banker wins the game. So the dealer wins on ties.
